Catalogue Rules
We seek to ensure that Vinted is a friendly and safe place to trade second-hand items. Therefore, members are required to comply with the Catalogue rules below when they upload their items.
Please note that these rules are a part of our Terms & Conditions. Upon creating an account on Vinted, you are agreeing to these rules and our Terms & Conditions.
a. ALLOWED ITEMS
You can sell on Vinted:
- Women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, footwear and accessories.
- Children’s toys, furniture and childcare equipment.
- New cosmetics, beauty products, beauty devices and gadgets.
- Tech accessories such as headphones, smart watches, phone cases and similar items.
- Homeware such as textiles, tableware and home accessories.
- Entertainment such as books, board games, puzzles, music & video.
- Pet care such as clothing, accessories, bedding, travel accessories, toys.
- Electronics such as e-readers, handheld music players, headphones & earbuds, video games, gaming consoles, portable radios & speakers, virtual reality, wearables, non-professional cameras and camera accessories, computer accessories, GPS and satellite navigation devices, smart home devices, streaming devices and other electronic accessories such as adaptors, cables, cases, chargers, item finders, remote controls and stands.
If an item that you trade came with instructions of use, manuals or safety warnings, ensure that you include these when you send the item to the buyer. If your electronics came with accessories and you are not selling the accessories with the item ensure to make it clear in the description and have in mind this may influence the item price. Make sure that the electronics you list are safe to be used.
We reserve the right to redetermine what items are and aren’t allowed to be listed on Vinted. If we discover that certain items violate our terms or pose any risk to our members, we may remove those items even if they’re not listed below.
Additionally, items that are allowed under these Catalogue Rules, must be lawfully placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market (that includes EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) before they can be listed on Vinted platform. Items cannot enter the EEA market for the first time by being sold through Vinted. This means items must be lawfully marketed in the EEA or must have been previously, lawfully imported to the EEA from outside (including from the UK). Items must comply with applicable EEA regulations to be allowed on Vinted.
b. PROHIBITED ITEMS
You cannot sell the following items on Vinted (Please note that the list is not exhaustive and is to be considered only as a guide):
Illegal items: Any goods or materials in which the possession, trading, selling, posting, carriage or production is prohibited by any applicable law, rule or regulation. Such as:
Counterfeit items. |
Counterfeit spare parts, materials and accessories used to fix or modify genuine items. |
Items that would infringe the intellectual property rights of their holders. |
Items that promote or display violence, discrimination, hatred, crime, terrorism and terrorist organisations, or child sexual abuse. Note: Games, books and movies, which may contain the above prohibited contents, are allowed in the entertainment categories (please see relevant restrictions below). |
Reproductions of any currency and items related to currency reproduction. |
Stolen items. |
Firearms, weapons and explosives, pepper sprays, tasers and similar items. Note: Realistic toy guns are also forbidden (e.g. airsoft and bb guns). |
Drugs and drug paraphernalia, growing ingredients for drugs (e.g. cannabis plant seeds). |
Nazi and fascist uniforms, and items displaying Nazi or fascist symbols. |
Armed forces, police or other emergency services official uniforms, badges, accessories or other objects. International humanitarian aid emblems and names (e.g. on badges or patches) listed individually or on clothing. Note: fancy dress costumes, outfits, and accessories are allowed if not closely resembling official uniforms and/or accessories. |
Items that include human or animal remains or by-products from the human body. |
Items that are (otherwise) prohibited by law or regulations. |
Restricted Items: items that are either not clothing, do not relate to fashion, beauty, accessorising, children, homeware, entertainment, electronics or simply do not align with the Vinted vision. Such as:
Prescription (Rx) and non-prescription (OTC) medicinal products, medications, professional medical supplies, vitamins, food supplements and any other health-related products. Products falling within the definition of “veterinary medicinal product” (e.g. flea shampoo, vitamins, medicines and similar products). |
Medical devices (including active implantable medical devices) and in-vitro diagnostic medical devices such as (the list is not exhaustive):

Tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or e-cigarettes, vapes, or other vaporising instruments and accessories. |
Samples, testers or promotional items that are not intended for sale. |
Any type of currency. |
Food and drinks of any kind. |
Items that promote money lender services, money making schemes or gambling. |
Adult items such as sex toys and fetish related items, pornography (e.g., books displaying pornographic/graphic contents), as well as items promoting sex services and offering fetish items for sale. |
Official work uniforms, such as:
Note: Vintage work uniforms or accessories are allowed if they are no longer in use, and don't look like a current work uniform. |
Items that identify with or promote organisations that support violence, discrimination, hatred or crime. Examples of such groups include Nazi or neo-Nazism and fascism or neo-fascism. |
Animal fur and its products. Also, natural shells, ivory or items containing products from exotic skin, such as reptile skin, ostrich, camel, karakul and any other items that contain products forbidden by international agreements aimed at restricting trade in endangered plants and animals. Note: Leather, sheared sheep wool, cashmere and mohair products are allowed. |
Live animals and pets. |
Litter, wood shavings, paper pellets and similar items for pets. |
Autographed items (or similar items) without a trusted certificate of authenticity. |
Some electronics and tech accessories are restricted on Vinted. These include but are not limited to: grooming items for pets, pet cameras and pet monitors, electric equipment for aquarium and terrarium, mobile phones, computers, individual PC parts, laptops, tablets, software keys, computer monitors, TVs, movie/tv cameras, select camera accessories, such as tripods/monopods or studio equipment, power banks, washing machines, dishwashers, irons, vacuum cleaners, printers, DVD players, translator devices, portable fans, vinyl players, projectors etc. Note 1: Voice recorders are allowed under electronics - other accessories. Note 2: Phone stabilizers, tripods, stands, camera remote triggers/controls are allowed in the electronics category. Note 3: Class 2 lasers pointers or below are allowed. Note 4: Flashes & lights for phones are allowed in the electronics category. Jailbroken or rooted electronics that have been modified to bypass a manufacturer’s security restrictions and enables the download of applications or extensions not offered by the official Apple or Google Play stores. |
Devices with batteries exceeding 100 watt-hours (Wh). |
SIM cards, SD Cards and memory cards when listed individually. |
Hard drives. |
Greylisted or finance-locked devices. |
Blacklisted devices that have not been paid off (these will ultimately be blacklisted by carriers), and devices that have been reported stolen or lost (and/or the owner has blocked the IMEI number. The IMEI number is unique to a device.) |
Original spare parts, materials and accessories used to fix or modify genuine items. |
Equipment such as tattoo kits, piercing machines, tanning beds, massage tables. |
Sports equipment for adults such as bikes, skis, snowboards, weights and similar items. Note: Sports clothing, eyewear, special protection as well as accessories are allowed. |
Musical instruments for adults such as guitars, violins, keyboards and similar items. |
Furniture for adults (such as sofas, tables, chairs) and furniture parts, decorations (such as real flowers) or home accessories (except for the ones allowed in Home Decor categories). |
Garden tools and equipment (such as lawnmowers), power tools, fishing equipment and tools (such as fishing rods, bait), outdoor equipment (such as tents, sleeping bags, torches, pools, outdoor umbrellas). |
Mattresses, mattress toppers, duvets (except in kids categories). Note: Beds and blankets for pets are allowed in pet care categories. |
Kitchenware, such as:
Kitchen knives (incl. chef’s knives, steak knives, bread knives, paring knives, cleavers, Santoku knives, kitchen shears, kitchen knife sets, any sharp cutting instrument with a pointed blade and sharp edge, etc.), pocket knives. Note: Table knives with a dull blade, used as cutlery are allowed. |
Single use plastic items, such as some versions of tableware, cutlery, cups, straws, confetti, balloons, inflatable decorations, etc. Note: Non-plastic confetti, unused disposable tableware and table cloth are allowed in Celebrations & Holidays subcategory. |
E-books, audiobooks, and books without ISBN codes. |
Advent calendars, surprise packages and bundles. |
Tickets for events, gift cards, discount coupons, subscriptions. |
Video games that feature loot boxes. |
Products which are subject to age ratings (such as video games) and that do not display the necessary age rating labelling. |
Products which are subject to country-specific content censorship or other restrictions due to the nature of their content. |
Digital games, coupons and keys. |
Products which have been modified, refurbished, restored in a way that one cannot reasonably claim that this is the same product (of the same features/of the same quality/of the same safety level) that the original producer put into circulation. |
Unsafe Items: Items that do not comply with hygiene standards, or may pose health or safety risks:
Worn underwear, handmade underwear bottoms, shorts worn as underwear (e.g., sleep shorts), corsets, body shapers and shapewear with bottom parts, protective underwear bottoms for sports, reusable nappies. Note 1: For hygiene reasons, only new underwear can be sold - you must clearly show the attached tags and/or original packaging in your item’s pictures. Composition and brand labels inside do not count as tags. Note 2: Worn bras, swimming costumes, tights and socks can be sold as long as they are properly washed and the description clearly states that the item has been worn. |
All cosmetics (including perfume, makeup, creams, lotions, and hair-care products), cosmetic accessories (makeup sponges, wipes, brushes or applicators) and beauty tools that have already been used or that are not in their original packaging. If items or their packages were sealed - these seals must not be broken or removed. We also recommend that you upload pictures showing the item’s information (packaging information, back information, bar code, expiration date, etc.). Note 1: It is strictly prohibited to sell cosmetic items that have been used or tried, even once, or that are expired. Note 2: The sale of any cosmetics products and electronic grooming items for pets are strictly prohibited. Note 3: It is strictly prohibited to sell cosmetics items that are only permitted for sale for professional use only, qualify as medicinal products or contain biocidal ingredients. Note 4: Cosmetics where at least one of the ingredients is a forbidden substance. |
Homemade cosmetics without composition labels, shaving razors (including razor blades and electric razors). |
Used towels, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and bedding sets. |
Sanitary products such as tampons, menstrual cups, and similar items. |
Used tongue, eyebrow, nose, lip and intimate piercing jewellery. |
Shock collars, choke collars, pinch collars, prong collars, spiked collars for pets. Nets and traps for fowling. Fish bowls. |
Detergents, washing powder, cleaning chemicals and similar products (e.g. liquid, powder, paste, bar, or any other chemicals, or products containing chemical substances (except cosmetics products)). |
Radar or frequency jamming devices. |
Recalled products. Items that were recalled for safety or other non-compliance reasons or otherwise flagged as unsafe by manufacturers, regulators or other public authorities in the EU or nationally. |
Dangerous substances considered flammable and toxic. |
Electronic devices with a swollen battery. |
Please make sure that your listings and items comply with our Catalogue rules. Other members may flag a listing of yours that appears to not comply with these rules for Vinted's review. If your item indeed does not comply, it may end up being removed or hidden by our team. You may also be subject to other actions, such as suspension or blocking of your account. If you send messages to other members which promote the sale of items that are part of the Prohibited Items list you may face similar actions. Please note: If you bump a listing which violates our Catalogue Rules and we have to remove or hide the listing, we won’t be able to refund you the cost of the bump.
c. GENERAL RULES
1. General
- You need to upload each of your items separately, under their corresponding category (and brand, if applicable).
- You should only have one listing per item.
- All items should have an appropriate item condition assigned to them. In the item description, you should also describe any defect, alteration, missing part of the item.
- You can choose up to 3 materials when uploading an item. A detailed description should also include information about additional materials (besides the main 3 already selected when uploading).
- It’s forbidden to upload an item that is not available or already sold. Items must not be uploaded for the purpose of searching for the item. It is also not allowed to list something that is not an actual item (e.g. for trolling purposes). Find out why your listing was hidden or deleted.
- The maximum item value allowed on our platform is 9 000 EUR.
- All listings and other posts related to auctioning or bidding activities are not allowed. When your item’s price is unusually low/high and doesn’t seem to match the real item’s value, the listing may be considered as an auctioned one. Find out how to set a reasonable price for your item.
- For any allowed socket plug electrical product and any battery powered products that transmit heat they must not present material damage such as frayed or loose cables.
- All personal data should be cleared and personal accounts should be disconnected from electronic devices. All devices should be reset to their original factory settings and should be fully turned off prior to being shipped. Remember to remove any personal belongings from the item that you list, like your SIM card or similar items.
2. Requirements for the item’s photos
The pictures used in your listing shall meet the following requirements:
- They have to represent the item as it is - no image editing is allowed. We also recommend showing any defects, scratches, wear, etc.
- They must be sharp and clear. Check out our photo tips.
- They have to be taken by you with the purpose of using the photos on Vinted.
- They cannot be replaced with stock photos, photos from ads and watermarked images.
- The first photo should clearly represent the whole item. You’re free to choose how you want to showcase your item in your additional photos. Note: You can upload up to 20 photos per listing.
- They must showcase your item’s authenticity. Check out our tips on this.
- For products which are subject to age ratings (like adult video games) they need to display the necessary age rating label.
3. IP policy
- It is strictly forbidden to upload counterfeit items to our platform. Counterfeit items usually copy or imitate the trademark (e.g. name of the brand, name of its product and/or logo) of a company without its permission. They may also copy the specific notable features of that company’s product (e.g. the shape of a perfume bottle, the design and specific pattern of a bag). Note: Sale of counterfeit items could expose sellers to civil and criminal proceedings.
- Members can only upload items which they are sure are authentic. They cannot add a disclaimer to their listing saying they are not sure whether or not the item is authentic.
- Members must also upload pictures showcasing as clearly as possible their item’s authenticity.
- Using other brands which are not related to your item in the brand category, title/description or as a hashtag in your listing is not allowed.
- The use of words such as "inspired by" followed by a brand is also generally prohibited on our platform.
- It is strictly prohibited to upload and sell items which are reproduced without IP rights holder’s consent (e.g. copied books, any kind of sport, diet plans created for individual purposes, copied video games into blank CD or in any other kind of medium).
4. Commercial activities
We do not allow our individual users to list any items which are intended to be sold for commercial purposes.
You may be considered as acting on a commercial basis based on one or more of the following criteria(s) (the list is not exhaustive):
- You make large volume transactions (taking into account the number of transactions made, and/or the amount of revenue earned).
- You sell a large number of brand new items, including items with tags or without tags.
- You sell clothing or other items of the same style that belong to the same category and/or brand, but in a number of different colours, sizes.
- Selling a large number of cosmetic items or items from the beauty category.
- Offer for resale items purchased in bulk or items sold as dropshipping products with a low resale value.
- You sell items with a note such as ‘can be ordered’; ‘currently out of stock’, ‘check back later’, etc.
- You sell items that you have not purchased for your own use but with the intent to resell them.
- Your sales are intended to generate a regular source of income or profit.
- You have a legal status which enables you to engage in commercial selling activities and you sell for your business.
- You sell items you designed and hand-made.
- You act on behalf of a particular trader or through another person acting in their name and on their behalf and receive remuneration or an incentive.
- You rent your items or suggest services like “customised”.
- Your listings are using pictures from the internet or stock photos.

5. PENALTIES
When members disregard our Catalogue rules, we may take the following measures:
- If a reported listing needs some amendments, we make it invisible in the member’s wardrobe and we send a message to the member informing them about the actions they need to take within 24 hours. If the member doesn’t take these actions, their item remains hidden.
- If a reported listing includes a prohibited item, we remove the listing from the member’s wardrobe and we send them a message informing about the reason for such removal.
- If a member uploads repeatedly prohibited items, items of a seemingly commercial nature and all other items which breach our Terms & Conditions and/or Catalogue rules, we can suspend their account (e.g. for a period of 7 days) or even block it definitively depending on the severity of the violation. We reserve the right to change the above-stated rules at our sole discretion without having to notify you thereof in advance. If you have any questions regarding the above-stated rules - contact our team and we’ll be happy to assist you.
